Appreciation, despite a season that never happened
What's there to do on a Thursday night?
Stay home! That's what four Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossom softball seniors did recently. Julia Worke, Marti Snider, Riauna Bishop and Maya Lembke were told to stay home and wait on this Thursday night, May 14.
Quiet then turned to noise as a car caravan, horns a blaring', stopped at the homes of the four seniors to tell them they were appreciated during a season that never was.
The coronavirus took away the spring sports season for senior athletes throughout Minnesota.
Awesome Blossom softball coach Jenna Volgarino, who was entering her second year as head coach, coordinated the car caravan in paying thanks to the four seniors.
Activities director and former softball coach Ali Mach and Coach John Bruns were also part of the caravan.
Participants in the caravan included current underclassmen. They met in a Blooming Prairie High School parking lot just one block away from their first stop, Julia Worke's house. Unaware of the caravan, Worke was shooting baskets on her front yard.
The caravan then proceeded to the homes of Marti Snider, Riauna Bishop and Maya Lembke.
Each senior softball team member was given an engraved softball, a team photo and a bouquet of flowers.
It was a Thursday night that these four senior softball players will never forget.
