Gladys Long, 94, Owatonna

Gladys Albertina Long, 94 of Owatonna, died Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Woodlands in Albert Lea. She was born in Wheeling Township on Nov. 7, 1927 to Frank & Bertha (Willie) Piepho. She was one of nine children.

On Nov. 23, 1949, she married Dewey L. Long at Associated Church in Owatonna. Both Dewey and Glady worked at Jostens at the time. Jostens closed the plant early so everyone could attend their wedding. Gladie and Dewey made their home in Owatonna and had one daughter Michele.

She was a member of the Brooktree Ladies Golf League. Her team won many tournaments. She enjoyed snowmobiling and traveling in her camper and working in her flower gardens. She also belonged to several Bridge & Craft clubs. She loved to decorate her house for holidays. She is survived by her husband Dewey Long, daughter Michele “Mitzi” (Jim) Rysavy. Sister Delores Smith, sister Lilias Langer, and brother Floyd Piepho. She is preceded in death by, parents; brothers, Ralph, Norman, Wayne, Ruben and one stillborn. Services will be held at a later date.
