Kylan Dean Brekke, age 64, Owatonna
Kylan Dean Brekke, age 64, of Owatonna, MN joined His Lord and Savior on September 9, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Albert Lea, MN. Kylan was born June 21, 1958, in Owatonna, the youngest of 10 children, to Jacob “Jake” Thomas and Olga (Bathel) Brekke. He lived on a farm between Hope and Ellendale and attended a 1-room country school until the 5th grade when it closed. He then attended Ellendale school until his family moved to Rio Rancho, NM. He, his mother, his brother, and sister then moved back to Owatonna. He graduated in 1976 from Owatonna High School.
He worked part time for Owatonna Graphics while in high school and then after graduation, he attended the University of Minnesota-Mankato for one year. He then worked at Muckle Manufacturing Company, and then General Equipment Company, when he had to quit after almost 39 years due to his declining health.
In 1984, he married Patti Abraham at the Saco Church in the Village of Yesteryear in Owatonna. He enjoyed taking long walks, car cruises, playing pool, fishing, boating, wood-working and relaxing in front of the TV.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-brother-in-law, Jerry Maas; step-brother Gerald “Gary” Brekke, brother-in-law Gene Meschke; former brother-in-law David Spinler; and niece, Katie Brekke. Survivors include wife Patti; step-sisters, JoAnn Maas of Valley Center, CA, and Yvonne Spinler of Austin, MN; sisters, Patricia Meschke, Brenda (Jack) Ellis, both of Morristown, MN; Charlene Thompson of Albert Lea, MN; brothers, Keith (Diane) Brekke of North Mankato, MN, Arlen (Coleen) Brekke of Ellendale, MN, and Kevan Brekke of Burnsville, MN, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
We thank God for His gift of Kylan, and for the gift of God’s son, Jesus, given so that Kylan can be in heaven with Him. Kylan will be dearly missed, but as we know that Kylan asked Jesus in his heart as his Lord and Savior, he is in heaven with Him, and that we will be reunited one day in Heaven! Praise the Lord!
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or plants, please direct any memorials to his family, or KJLY Kinship Christian Radio, or the donor’s choice. Blessed be his memory.
