Paul Sevigny, 66, Acworth, Georgia
Paul Edward Sevigny, 66 of Acworth, Georgia passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 at home.
He was born on Sept. 10, 1955 in Red Lake Falls, Minn., to Alfred and Loretta (Gerszewski) Sevigny. Just eight days after Paul’s birth, Loretta and their three boys tragically lost Alfred due to complications with appendicitis.
On Dec. 26, 1959, Loretta remarried Robert Lechner in Grand Forks, N.D. where Paul and his brothers thought of Robert as “Dad.” Paul first attended school in Grand Forks and later attended in San Jose, Calif. after moving there as a family in 1962 for Roberts’s job with IBM. After graduating from Del Mar High School in San Jose in May 1973, Paul moved out to Mantorville, Minn. with the rest of the family for Robert’s transfer to the Rochester IBM plant. After pursuing a semester of college at Rochester Community College, he yearned to stay in San Jose and returned there in 1974. He continued college at West Valley Community College and San Jose City College nearly finishing his degree in business with studies including French cooking classes. He went on to work at 7-Eleven Convenience Store and had a wonderful boss, Phyllis until 1993. Phyllis thought so much of Paul that she sent Paul on an all-expenses paid vacation to Mexico. He then moved to Marietta, Ga., with his friends Bruce and Sadie to live in another warm climate state (Paul always preferred warmer climates!) with a better cost of living, fewer gun restrictions, and generally a better quality of life. He managed two Chevron Convenience stores for a number of years and then worked for Toys-R-Us for another three years. After moving to Acworth, Ga., he worked for Walmart just over 15 years and retired in July 2021 due to health reasons. Paul was an avid reader with his favorites being Civil War topics and medieval fantasies and science fiction. Other than reading and being a Civil War buff, his hobbies and interests also included collecting rare coins, reloading bullets, playing ineractive video mystery games, playing scratch-offs and lottery tickets, and socializing. Paul loved playing board games with family and friends, including cribbage (family favorite), Farkle and Risk.
Paul also enjoyed hunting and fishing. In California, Paul would go to Half Moon Bay by Monterey on charter boats and catch rock cod and striped bass. At the rifle range, Paul could shoot a dime from a hundred yards away because of loading his bullets just right. Paul played in high school sports of football and wrestling. Paul was on bowling leagues and NFL fantasy football league. Paul won two lottery tickets back-to-back in 1999 and was able to buy both a brand-new mobile home trailer and a Saturn car. Paul was proud to be an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by his mother, Loretta; siblings, Mark Sevigny, Isidore (Patty) Sevigny, Dale Lechner, Jane (Mark) Senn, Raymond (Jennifer) Lechner; and many nieces and nephews including Marilee (Mark) Chomos, Jessica Sevigny, Robert Sevigny, Corinna Senn, Mitchell Senn, Naomi Lechner, Shelby Lechner, Sunny Lechner, and Joe Lechner. Great nieces Brittany Chomos, Brianna Chomos, Bryjitte Sevigny, Tessa Sevigny, and Izibelle Sevigny. Paul was always very generous to his nieces and nephews gifting them money and other thoughtful gifts for Christmas, birthdays, and graduations. He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Sevigny (1955); his niece, Rhoda Sevigny (2011); his brother, Dean Lechner (2014); and step-father, Robert Lechner (2015).
Mass of Christian Burial is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 S Elm Ave, Owatonna, with Rev. Jim Starasinich presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 2030 S Cedar Ave, Owatonna. Luncheon following burial back at St. Joseph Church.
