A Whisker Away

The scenario for the Blooming Prairie High School boys basketball team is the same for them as it was for the girls a week ago.
That scenario is thatthe Blossoms are one game away from reaching the state tournament for the second time in their history. The Blossom boys made it to the state classic in 1966.
The Blossom girls saw their season come to an end against the Falcons of Fill- more Central on March 5.
Coach Nate Piller’s Awesome Blossoms held off a stubborn Grand Meadow team, 52-49, in a Section 1A semifinal game Saturday at the Mayo Civic Auditorium in Rochester.
Blooming Prairie now meets Hayfield for the Section 1A championship at 6 p.m. Thursday night in the Mayo Civic Arena in Rochester.
Free throws and a command performance by senior forward Gabe Hagen led the Blossoms past the Super Larks.
