Jimmie Ahles, 78, Austin

Jimmie A. Ahles, age 78 of Austin, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018 at his home in Austin.  
Jimmie Allen was born Feb. 17, 1940 in Stearns County to Cornelius and Voila Marie (Laws) Ahles. As a child Jimmie’s family moved to Blooming Prairie, where he attended school. 
On Aug. 5, 1961, he was united in marriage to Elaine D. Langerud in Beloit, Wis. Jimmie and Elaine made their home in Austin, and were blessed with two children.  Over the years Jimmie worked as a bartender, and later for various companies in the Austin area including Weyerhaeuser, QPP, before retiring from Ankeny’s # 5.  
He loved driving his Cadillacs, enjoyed traveling, camping, gambling, deer hunting, collecting guns, and attending the annual Well’s Gun Show. Jimmie was very interested and knowledgeable in both Civil War and Titanic history. 
He is survived by his children Deborah Van Syoc of Waterloo, Iowa, and Dean (Chera-Lynn) Ahles of Austin; five grandchildren McKala, McKinze, Alyssa, Drew, and Hailey; three great-grandchildren Izaiah, Lincoln, and Kashton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends, and his faithful companion Harry.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elaine on June 19, 2010.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018 at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Dave Simerson officiating. Interment was at Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
