Joan Paul, 95, Waseca

Joan Paul passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, in Waseca.

Joan Elizabeth Paul was born Feb. 20, 1931, to Marguerite (Domy) and Bernard Matz in Waseca County. She attended first through sixth grade at a one room school in Deerfield Township in Steele County. She went on the graduate from Medford High School in 1948.

Joan was married to John F. Paul and had two sons. Throughout her life she enjoyed motorcoach trips and going out to eat. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary since 1957, serving as president for two years followed by many years as the treasurer.

She is survived by John C. “Jack” Paul, Jeff Hofschulte; grandchildren Mark (Aliree), Paul, Jess Paul, Renee (Mike) Massingham, and Stacy Hockers; eight great-grandchildren: Courtney, Cassie, Molli, Alex, Paige, Elizabeth, Cody, and Leah; a great-great granddaughter, LaykeLynn; and sister-in-law, Josephine Matz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Jarrold (Jerry), brother Harlan Matz, daughter-in-law Susan Paul, and dear friend Francis Hofschulte.

Friends may greet the family at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Medford.
