Judith Ann McGowan, 69, Hayfield

Judith Marie McGowan, 69, died on Sept. 24, 2015, at her home in rural Hayfield.  She donated her body to the Mayo Clinic.
There will be a celebration of life for Judy from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2015, at West St. Olaf Lutheran Chapel, 70640 260th Avenue in rural Hayfield.
Judy was born on Aug. 27, 1946, in Rochester. She is the daughter of John and Maxine (Becker) Svendsen. Judy was united in marriage to Daryl L. McGowan on June 25, 1966, at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron.  
Judy attended grade school in Douglas and graduated with honors from John Marshall High School in 1964.  Judy was a farm wife and worked at Mayo Clinic, Lohn’s Grocery Store and many years in the tax office in Hayfield.  She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion, Vernon Township Clerk, West St. Olaf financial secretary, 4-H leader, WELCA, Sunday school teacher and a member of the Altar Guild. 
 She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, calf chores, gardening, animals, feeding the birds, collecting ceramic hens and roosters, being outdoors, helping others and spending time with her granddaughters.
Judy is survived by her husband, Daryl L. McGowan, Hayfield; son, Daryn McGowan, Hayfield; daughter, Darcy (Steve) Rauchwarter, Rochester; granddaughters, Kaylee and Ashley Rauchwarter, Rochester; sister, Peggy Palmby, Rochester;  brother, Mike (Diane) Svendsen, Hamel, Minnesota; and her special dog, Gordy.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to West St. Olaf Lutheran Church or donor’s choice. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield assisted with arrangements. Blessed be her memory.
