Judy Thimsen, 68, Blooming Prairie

Judy Ann Thimsen, age 68, of Blooming Prairie, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Judy was born on July 17, 1955, in Owatonna, to Earl and Christine (Sorensen) Thimsen. Judy attended Blooming Prairie schools and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1973. Following graduation Judy attended Rochester Community and Technical College and received training as a nursing assistant. She worked as a nursing assistant and a unit secretary at Methodist and St. Marys Hospitals in Rochester.

Judy loved flowers, plants, and gardening. She was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Bixby. Judy enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and attending any events her nieces and nephews were involved in. She especially enjoyed watching her great-niece’s horse shows. Judy also enjoyed attending the local county fairs, especially the Dodge and Steele County Fairs and was active in 4-H. She was very proud of her Danish heritage. Judy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Judy is survived by her sisters, Freda (Jerry) Aarsvold and Darlene (Jerome) Bigelow; nieces and nephews, Christine Rodrick, Nathan (Kim) Rodrick, Jilleen (Jimmy) Bigelow-Shea, Jami Bigelow, and Christopher Bigelow; and very loved great-nieces and great-nephews, Jacob, Hayley, Journey, Voyaje, Hannah, Paradiez, and Kayden; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Christine; and grandparents, Hannah Thimsen and Nels Sorensen.

The memorial service for Judy will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Bixby.
