Kim Moen, 49, Owatonna
Kim Moen passed away from a sudden illness on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023. She was 49 years old. Kim loved her husband and three children fiercely. She was a best friend and second mother to many.
Kimberly Rae Moen was born in Sioux Falls, on July 6, 1974, the daughter of Ken and Sandy (Kallemeyn) Kramer. She was a 1992 graduate of Washington High School in Sioux Falls.
On Oct. 10, 1998, Kim was married to Glenn Moen at Tuthill Park in Sioux Falls. In the summer of 1999, they made their home in Owatonna. During her lifetime Kim worked as a care provider in Sioux Falls, cleaning with Carrie’s Cleaning, and as a pharmacy technician for Sterling Drug Long Term Care. She also operated a loving home daycare while caring for own her children. She was incredibly supportive of each of her children’s hobbies and passions, providing them with every opportunity and experience that she could. Many passions of hers were tied to her family, whether it was chasing Maddie at a cross country meet; celebrating a Miracle League hit with Andrew; attending a musical with Kaylee; or finding another elusive Long John Silver’s with Glenn. Her sense of kindness, justice, love, and humor will continue to be seen through her family. She lived life completely and without regret. #dontblink
Kim enjoyed traveling throughout the region and country, often leaving Owatonna with friends and family to get away from the cold while making memories. Country music was a passion of hers and she adored attending concerts with friends and family frequently throughout the year.
Closer to home she enjoyed flowers, gardening, bird watching, and she was excited to build on her new hobby of growing luffa. Her favorite birds were hummingbirds, but she could also spend hours watching eagles soar overhead. She was a Minnesota Twins mega fan, and surely, she would appreciate if you cheer extra hard for them in this year’s playoffs.
Having a best friend is a fortunate thing, and Kim was that person to so many in the community of Owatonna. She offered support, kind words, and stern suggestions to her friends whenever they were needed. She was always the first to check on someone, right when they needed it. “What would Kim say” will continue to be a mantra in their lives. She was also a kind presence to the children of her friends, frequently being seen at their events clapping and cheering, consoling, and congratulating.
Kim is survived by her husband Glenn; her children Kaylee, Andrew, and Maddie; her mother Sandy of Sioux Falls; her brother Kenny (Angie) of Sioux Falls; and her favorite cat, Luna.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ken, and her beloved dog Baxter.
Friends may greet the family from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna.
