Larry Johnson, 75, Medford
Larry Burnett Johnson, age 75, passed away peacefully, in his sleep, on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at his home in Medford.
Larry was born in Farmington on June 10, 1948, to Burnett and Helen (Peterson) Johnson.
Larry graduated from Northfield High School, Northfield, and shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as a gunner on the USS Galveston, stationed out of California. He proudly served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on Feb. 22, 1972.
Larry worked various jobs including meat cutting, construction, welding and eventually truck driving, which was his last job before retirement.
Larry is survived by his daughters: Renee Dybevik (Eddie) of Owatonna and Rebecca Delaske (Jeremy) of Faribault; his mother Helen Johnson of Northfield; sister Bonnie Hansen of Northfield; brother Gary Johnson of Bemidji; sister Jean Kapp (David) of Cannon Fall, grandchildren: Dakota Johnson of Owatonna, Nathaniel and Burnett Keller of Owatonna as well as nieces and nephews, and close friends Butch Jones and Gary Schlossin.
He was preceded in death by his dad Burnett; daughter Dawn; brother-in-law Donald Hansen; and sister-in-law Liz Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Medford Funeral Home, 310 E. Central, Medford. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Memorial Service. Following the service, a luncheon will be provided at the funeral home. Interment with full Military Rites will take place at Prairie Creek Cemetery, Northfield, with honors provided by the Steele County Funeral Unit.
