Leona Ester Rysavy passed away June 28, 2026, at Benedictine Living Community in Owatonna.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Owatonna. Friends may greet the family 1.5 hours prior to the funeral at church starting at 9:30 a.m.

Leona was born on her family farm on April 7, 1928, in Summit Township. The daughter of Frank and Martha (Motl) Seykora. Leona attended District 51 country school through eighth grade. She worked as a housekeeper and cook in her younger years. She also did housework and ironing for many families.

Leona was united in marriage to the love of her life, Peter Rysavy, July 8, 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic church in Litomysl. They resided in Owatonna where they shared a wonderful life for 69 years.

Leona was a member of Sacred Heart church and volunteered for funeral luncheons. Leona enjoyed cooking, baking, flower gardening, and entertaining, especially for family and friends. You never left her house hungry. Also with Peter, she enjoyed old time music, dances, playing cards, puzzles and casino trips.

She is proceeded in death by her parents and husband Peter.

Leona is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Loren) Rysavy, grandson Michael Rysavy and Peter’s nieces and nephews. Leona was a loving caring wife, mother, grandma and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all.
