Marian Miller, 93, Owatonna, obituary

Marian Miller died Nov. 1, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church, 815 E. University St., Owatonna. Friends may greet the family beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.

Marian Miller was born May 15, 1932, in Deerfield Township, rural Steele County, the second of six children to Franklin and Florence Beese. She lived on the family farm until age 14. A lifelong learner, she attended Country School, District 19, for eight years and graduated as Salutatorian from Medford High School in 1949.

She worked at Federated Insurance for 10 years, as well as Schultz’s Family Store and Jostens. She was a dedicated member and volunteer of the United Methodist Church, demonstrating her heart for service in many ways. She generously volunteered for the blood mobile, Meals on Wheels, church quilting, vision and hearing screening, and served as a teacher’s aide and 4-H leader.

Marian met Bill Miller while roller skating, and they were married on May 5, 1956. They enjoyed riding their motorcycle together and made their home in Owatonna. Bill preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2004.

She loved flowers, the color pink, and her family most of all. She enjoyed working outside, considered weeding as therapy, and mowed the lawn until she was 80. She amassed a huge collection of sheet music and played the piano every day. She was an enthusiastic sports fan, cheering on the Vikings and Gopher basketball teams. Marian was fortunate to travel with family and friends to Palm Springs, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Arizona, Monterey Mexico, Branson Missouri, the Black Hills, and the Crystal Cathedral; she took her first airplane trip in her 70s.

Marian is survived by her daughter Janice (Tom Imhof) and son Roger (Adam Elg); her sisters Faye Collins (Jim) and Donna Froman; her brother Ron Beese; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, brother Harlan Beese, sister Jean Busho, brothers-in-law Maynard Busho, Ernest Miller, Raphael Miller, Jim Granowski, Allan Terpstra, and Bob Dusek; sisters-in-law Bess Beese, Gladys

Terpstra, Zenobia Duske, Libby Miller, and Mary Ellen Miller, and her beloved pets Peppy and Heidi.
