Mary Mamer, 90, formerly of Owatonna
Mary Therese Mamer, 90, formerly of Owatonna, passed away Aug. 8, 2026, at Arbor Lane Assisted Living in Burnsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 S. Elm Ave., Owatonna. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. A Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. Burial will follow services at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
Mary was born on Feb. 28, 1936, in Nordland Township, Minn., to Arnold and Anne (Nuy) Geurts.
In 1965, she was united in marriage to Gilbert “Gil” Mamer in St. Leo, Minn. Following their marriage, Mary and Gil moved to Sioux Falls, where they lived for three years before settling in Owatonna in 1970. Owatonna remained Mary’s home until 2024.
Mary and Gil worked together for many years operating Mamer Construction in Owatonna. An entrepreneur in her own right, Mary owned and operated Mamer Real Estate, where she especially enjoyed helping people find a place to call home.
Mary and Gil enjoyed traveling together and the experiences and memories their travels brought them. Mary also had a lifelong appreciation for arts and crafts. She enjoyed creating dried-flower arrangements, hardanger and embroidery – creative pursuits that brought her many hours of enjoyment.
Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life. She was active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Serra Club International and remained devoted to her faith throughout her life.
Above all, Mary was devoted to her family. She is survived by her three children, Ann (Steve) Lloyd, Joseph (Elin) Mamer, and Robert Mamer; and four granddaughters, Libby, Frannie, Emily, and Sarah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gil; her parents, Arnold and Anne Geurts; her sister, Agnes; and her brothers, Don and David.
