Maxine Harris, 101, Kasson-Mantorville

Maxine Harris, 101, a longtime resident in the Kasson-Mantorville area, died of natural causes Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at her residence in Kasson.Maxine Ruth Stussy was born Sept. 13, 1914 to Walter and Esther (Maxson) Stussy in Milton Township, Dodge County. She attended country school, graduated from Mantorville High School, attended Winona Business School and Teacher’s College before working as a bookkeeper for Rochester Coop Oil, Wilson Cheese Factory and for Stussy Construction.On Feb. 27, 1937 Maxine married Vinton Curtis Harris in Rochester. From 1939 to 1980 they farmed in rural Mantorville. They then moved to Mantorville. In 2001 they moved to Kasson. Maxine was a member of First Congregational Church in Mantorville since the age of 14. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, playing the organ for church, gardening, cooking and visiting with her Prairie Meadows family. She was also an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves. Survivors include: Jacqueline (Charles) Moore of Worthington, Minnesota, Patricia Kivela of St. Paul and Jerald (Rosemary) of rural Mantorville; grandchildren: Curt (Peggy) Harris, Nicole (Donnie) Hrtanek, Michelle (David) Bartel, Jess Harris, Kris Kivela, Paul (Amy) Moore, Pam (Scott) Prouty; great-grandchildren: Jesica (Adam) Evjen, Brendan (Lacey) Hrtanek, Justin (Zulay) Harris, Brandice (Trent) Horning, Dylan (Holland) Harris, Donielle Hrtanek, Mackenzie, Delaney, and Laken Bartel, Katelyn and Madison Harris, Ryan Lynch, Elizabeth, Julia and Matthew Prouty, Hannah Moore and Drew (Nikki) Gilman; great-great grandchildren: Taimani and Kaimana Evjen, Vinton and Valyn Harris, Maxson and Merrick Harris, Landen and Jamison Gilman.  She is also survived by sister-in-law Lorraine (Lloyd) Stussy. She was preceded in death by her husband Vinton, two brothers, Donald and Lloyd and a sister, Irene.The funeral for Maxine Ruth Harris was held Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at First Congregational Church in Mantorville with Pastor Brian Egelston officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Mantorville. Memorials are preferred to First Congregational Church, 515 Walnut St., Mantorville or Seasons Hospice in Rochester. Dibble Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
