Melvin Redondo, 50, Owatonna

It is with great sadness that the family of Melvin Danilo Flores Redondo announce his sudden passing on Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, at the age of 50, surrounded by his loving family.

Melvin was born in Honduras to Agustina Redondo and Jose Casto Flores and was the third of 14 children. He left Honduras as a teenager to strive for a better life and ended up in Texas where he learned the roofing/ construction trade. He had a natural talent for fixing things. Later, he met his wife, Maria, and together they decided to move up north to Owatonna, where they ultimately chose to settle down, buy a house, and raise their four daughters.

Melvin wore many titles: husband, son, brother, friend but his best-known title was Dad. There are not enough words to describe such a genuinely loving person who was truly loved by many. He made friends everywhere he went, and was always happy, and he loved helping others in any way possible. He was the one person everyone could count on, and our family will miss him immensely.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Maria Elva Mendez Flores, daughter, Maria Zaida Dominguez Mendez (Arevalo) grandchildren; Luis, Adrian Alejandra, Juanito, Miguel; daughter, Maria Hilda Dominguez Mendez (Gomez) grandchildren; Pablo, Sophia; daughter, Yesenia Dominguez (Wazwaz); daughter, Hilda Vanessa Medrano (Moreno) grandchildren; Xavi, Giovanni, Horacio, Frida.

He was preceded in death by his father Jose Casto Flores; siblings, Hector Orlando Flores Redondo and Jose Uvense Flores Redondo.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna. Funeral Mass will be Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 810 South Cedar Ave., Owatonna. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, 425 Mineral Springs Road, Owatonna.
