Members of the Blooming Prairie City Council on Monday accepted the resignation of full-time police officer Dan Peach, who has accepted a position as chief of police for the city of Janesville.

He’s been a familiar face on the streets of Blooming Prairie for more than a decade, from B to Z Hardware and the Blooming Prairie Ambulance Service to his role on the Blooming Prairie Police Department since 2015.

Peach’s last day of full-time employment with the city of Blooming Prairie is Nov. 7, though he has requested a transfer to the part-time roster. With the request, he asked for three-month leave of absence in order to settle in to his new role in Janesville.

In his letter of resignation, Peach said the decision “is one that I have given considerable thought to. My time with the Blooming Prairie Police Department has been an incredibly important part of my life and career. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities, experiences, friendships and support I have received during my years serving this community.”

Peach went on to say the town has “allowed me to grow both personally and professionally, and I will always be proud of the time I have spent serving as a member of this department… I hope to continue contributing to the department in a part-time capacity when circumstances allow.”
