Randall “Randy” Moe, 58, Owatonna
Randall “Randy” Scott Moe, 58, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018, while enjoying one of his favorite things, a run along Lake Kohlmeier.
He was born Sept. 15, 1959 in Owatonna, the son of Donald and Loretta (Rassman) Moe. As a young boy, his family moved to Bixby where he grew up. He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School, Class of 1977.
His work career began at Sirloin Stockade as a cook, Perkins where he was kitchen and assistant manager, Bridgeman’s where he was the kitchen manager and Viracon where he was currently in his 30th year of employment.
He married Julie Sorensen on May 7, 1983, at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The couple has lived their entire married life in Owatonna where they raised their family.
Randy was an avid Minnesota sports fan especially the Twins and Vikings. He would watch sports 24 hours a day if he could. In 2017, he realized one of his dreams, to attend Spring Training for the Twins in Florida. He also loved fishing, reading, watching the old-time TV programs, bowling, playing pool and playing softball. He enjoyed many years of playing league softball, bowling and pool.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Moe; sons, Derek (Abby) and Evan Moe; daughter, Anna Moe; grandsons, Nico and Beckett Moe; sister, Julie Maxwell; unofficially adopted son, Jacob Otto, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Donald and Loretta; brother, Scott Moe; maternal grandparents, John and Gertrude (Heidi) Rassman and paternal grandparents, Obert and Bernice (Baldwin) Moe.
A memorial service was held Monday, May 21 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment was at the Aurora Lutheran Cemetery.
Michaelson Funeral Home of Owatonna handled the arrangements.
