Robert Padilla, 76, Owatonna

Robert Paul Padilla died Oct. 27, 2025, in Owatonna, with his family surrounding him.

Robert was born June 7, 1949, in Hayward, to Raul Padilla, Sr. and Leonarda (Castillo) Padilla. He attended country school in District 2106, followed by Owatonna High School from which he graduated with the class of 1968.

He enlisted in the Marines and served in Vietnam. After his active duty and honorable discharge, he continued his service to the country in the Army National Guard until his retirement from the military. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart Medal.

When he returned home after serving in Vietnam, he worked at Viracon and was a first responder. He worked at Viracon until his retirement. He was briefly married to Marilyn Kunze. Robert was an avid pool player, participating in many leagues and tournaments. He loved art and loved to paint. He was a member of the VFW.

Robert is survived by his daughter Celena Goldie; siblings Herminia Padilla Aguinaga, Josephine Duenes, Cruz (Debbie) Padilla, Ruben (Diane) Padilla, Leonarda (Roger) Stennes; stepdaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Natalia Padilla, Andrea Padilla Jimenez, Raul Padilla, Jr., and Angela Padilla.

Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, from 3-5 p.m. at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 512 S. Elm Ave., Owatonna. Interment will follow Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors provided by the Steele County Funeral Unit. Robert is being buried on the date of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Marine Corps.
