Rod Jenkins, 67, Owatonna

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Rodney James Jenkins, who passed away on July 4, 2026, at the age of 67, after a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Rod was born in Owatonna, July 6,1958, to Ed and Donna Jenkins. He graduated from Owatonna High school in 1977. He worked as a plaster, stucco, and drywall contractor throughout his life with most of that time in a partnership with his brothers at Jenkins Brothers Plaster & Stucco.

Rod was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Lora, daughters Ashley (Bobby) Benson, Maggie (Chris) Keur, and four cherished grandchildren Adalyn, Evie, Tatum, and Eero; all of whom will carry his love, wisdom, and memories in their hearts.

A lifelong lover of the outdoors, Rod found happiness in hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. Whether he was in the woods, casting a line, or foraging for mushrooms and asparagus, he was most at peace while enjoying the beauty of nature. He treasured those moments and especially enjoyed sharing them with friends and family.

He will be remembered for his strength, patience, and unwavering love for his family. Even during his illness, he faced each day with courage and determination. He had a positive effect on everyone in his life.

A life well lived leaves a lasting legacy, and Rod’s will live on through the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the memories he leaves behind.

Also surviving Rod is his mother Donna Jenkins, siblings Dianne (Ric) Lyles, Patty (Terry) Warner, Sandy Olson, John (Barb), Elliot (Sunny), Brad, Tim (Tiffany) Jenkins, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Ed Jenkins, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Earl and Phyllis Thompson, and many aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held at Mineral Springs Brewery in Owatonna, on July 20, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Rod’s name that supports the things that brought joy to his life.
