Roger Lynn Saathoff, Blooming Prairie

A private family service for Roger Lynn Saathoff of Blooming Prairie, formerly of Okabena, took place Aug. 24 in the chapel of Macken Funeral Home in Rochester. Roger passed away on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, with his children by his side.
Roger was born April 8, 1940, in Heron Lake Township, to Blanche and Harm Saathoff. He graduated from Okabena High School in 1958. On March 28, 1959, he married Diann Pohlman of Lakefield, at the Lutheran church in Okabena. The couple then moved to Bloomington, and in 1962 they moved to Mankato, where he attended Mankato State University. In 1966 they moved to Blooming Prairie where they lived for the remainder of their years. He completed his Master’s Degree in education at the Mankato State University and taught high school at Blooming Prairie High School until retiring in 1998.
Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, gambling, long walks looking for arrowheads and spending time in the woods with Diann.
Survivors include their three children, Denise (Chris) Bronte of Rochester, Lance (Kelly) Saathoff of Mantorville, Wendy (Bill) Binegar of Boise, Idaho; brother, Robert (Carole) Saathoff of Prior Lake; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his wife Diann.
