Ronald Boreen, 72, Owatonna, obituary

Ronald L. Boreen, age 72, passed away at home surrounded by family on Nov. 27, 2023, after a long battle with ALS. A private family gathering will take place.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held at the VFW in Owatonna on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, from 4–7 p.m.

Ron was born Feb. 2, 1951, in Owatonna to Sidney and Edna (Sandberg) Boreen. He grew up in Owatonna and was a graduate of Owatonna High School in 1969. He attended both Mankato State University and Arizona State University.

Ron was the owner of Surge Dairy Farm Supply for over 40 years. Ron sold and serviced dairy and feeding equipment in Steele County and surrounding area.

On Sept. 3, 1983, he married Julie Resler and they were happily married for 40 years.

Ron had a zest for life! Besides his love for Julie and spending time with family and friends and gatherings at the farm, he loved fishing, watching and playing sports. He played softball and volleyball into his 50s.

Ron is survived by his wife, Julie. He is also survived by sisters Nancy Borchert and Patti (Ronnie) Blakstad; sisters-in-law Sandy (Orv) Brase and Debbie Kubista (Patrick); brother-in-law Dale (June) Resler; and nieces and nephews: Korey (Tanya) Borchert and their children Layla and Ethan; Melissa Tellijohn and her children Maiah, Elijah and Isaiah; Tony Blakstad (Heidi); Amy (Bryant) Wencl and their children Landon, Greyson and Deegan; Tami (Tom) Steiner and her children Tomas (Keiley) Hull and their son Wyatt; Heather (Cody) Alexander and their children Bentley and Bradley; Doug (Jessica) Brase and their children Ashlee Brase (Brockton) and their daughter Brexly; Brennon (Madi) Brase; Kim (Greg) Gauthier and their children Jacob and Logan; Bryan (Brooke) Resler and their children Katelyn, Joe, Clem and Emie; Ben (Ashley) Resler and their children Clay, Lincoln and Mac; and Andy (Mandi) Resler and their children Blake and Cree.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Sid and Edna Boreen; brother Robert Boreen, brother-in-law Mike Borchert, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clem and Alice Resler.

A loving husband, brother, and uncle; Ron will be dearly missed.
