Ronald Swenson Sr., 76, Owatonna

Ronald Allen Swenson Sr., age 76, passed away peacefully at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie. 
He was born on Oct. 1, 1941 to parents Russell and Pearl (Madson) Swenson in Blooming Prairie. He grew up in Blooming Prairie, where he attended elementary through high school and was a member of First Lutheran Church. 
Ronald moved to Austin and married his first wife, Jolene. Four children were born to this union and they later divorced.
Life brought him to Rockford, Ill., where he held a 30-plus year career at the Chrysler Belvidere Assembly Plant. After his retirement from the plant, Ron drove for UPS for a while. In 2008, he moved home to Minnesota due to illness. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo in his free time.
He is survived by his children, Ronald Jr. (Alice) Swenson, Jody, Richard Swenson; grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Pat) Swenson of Faribault, David (Rita) Swenson of Albert Lea, Dennis (Laura) Esplan of Windom; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Swenson and Pearl Swenson Esplan; son, Rodney Swenson; and sister, Darla (William) Bailey.
Bonnerup Funeral Service of Albert Lea handled the arrangements.
