Rosa Fogal, 95, Owatonna
Rosa Ella (Tesch) Fogal, age 95, of Owatonna, died Monday, March 16, 2026, at Edgewood in Brainerd.
Rosa Tesch was born on Oct. 23, 1930, on the family farm near Matawan in Waseca County. She attended country school and was confirmed at age 13 at Firth Lutheran Church of Waldorf. She went to New Richland High School for 1½ years before moving to Waldorf. She graduated from Waldorf High School in 1948. Less than one week later, she started working for Ewert’s Fairway Foods.
Rosa married John Fogal on Sept. 21, 1950, at the First Lutheran Church in Waldorf, where the two made their home. Both taught Sunday School at the church, while Rosa was a homemaker, taking care of their children, Donna, and twins, David and Debra.
In 1965, the two started Fogal Television Sales & Repair in Owatonna, before moving their family there in 1966. They retired from the business in 1993. After John’s passing in 2013, Rosa continued living in the family home in Owatonna. Following a change in her health, her three children spent four years taking turns living with her. Son, David, became ill and passed away in the fall of 2024, necessitating a move to Edgewood Memory Care in Brainerd for a short time. She passed away peacefully after a fall. She remained kind and a joy to care for up to the end.
She is survived by her two daughters, Donna (and Tommy Padilla) Hotan Halverstadt, and Debra (and Jim) Kron; 12 grandchildren, Sarah (and Brock) Stai, Daniel Holtan, Mark (and Brooklyn) Halverstadt, Laura (and Sam Lidington) Halverstadt, Stephanie (and Brian) Schlueter, Chelsey Kron, Brittany (and Ben) Wilson, Bryana (and Tyler) Dunphy, Nicole (and Philip) Fogal Lundeen, Dustyn (and Krista) Fogal, Coltyn (and Sara ) Fogal, and Chantyl Fogal; great-grandchildren, Eero and Senja Stai, Jasmine and Camden Kron, Madelin, Liam, and Ophelia Schlueter, Mila Kron, Blair and Greer Dunphy, Maddyx and Bryson Fogal, Hayven, Coltyn, Kylie, Emily, Carter, and Bentley Fogal, Prestyn Fogal; great-great-grandchild, Caius Kron.
Preceded in death by parents, nine siblings, husband John Fogal, infant son, Michael Fogal, and son, David Fogal.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 11, at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Owatonna. Service at 11 a.m., with luncheon to follow. Interment at First Lutheran Church Cemetery, Waldorf, around 2 p.m. Pastor Harold Storm officiating. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
