Rose K. Mills, 81, Blooming Prairie

Rose K. Mills, age 81 of Blooming Prairie, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Koda Living Community in Owatonna. Rose Katherine was born Feb. 18, 1937 in Jasper, Minn., to Eugene and Ruby (Swenson) Haley. She attended grade school in Sherman, Minn., and later moved to South Dakota where she graduated in 1957 from Garretson High School.
Rose was united in marriage to Ronald Schumacher, and they resided in Sioux Falls, S.D. Rose and Ron were blessed with two children. They later divorced.
In 1977, Rose married Jim Mills in Reno, Nev. They made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah for 17 years, and later moved to Minnesota to be closer to family. Rose was a waitress and drove truck with Jim. They were a great team driving truck coast to coast before retiring in 1980. She enjoyed watching TV, crocheting and embroidery, going out to lunch and visiting with friends, cooking, and had a good time playing cards and taking gambling trips.
Rose will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children Brian A. Schumacher and Linda M. Schumacher both of Owatonna; three sisters; a brother; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim in 2015; parents Eugene and Ruby Haley; two brothers, and two sisters.
Rose will be laid to rest next to her husband Jim at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
