Russell Madson, 59, Northwood, Iowa

Russell Paul Madson, age 59, of Northwood, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, in Lebo, Kansas.

Russell was born April 7, 1964, in Owatonna, to Obed and Daisy (Bjork) Madson. He was baptized on Aug. 30, 1964, at First Lutheran Church of Blooming Prairie. He attended Blooming Prairie High School and went on to receive his CDL and boiler license from Riverland Community College in Albert Lea.

Following school, Russell served our country in the United States Army. Russell spent most of his years as a driver that made his career in the trucking industry. His more recent employment was driving for TS Express in Northwood, Iowa, for 13 years. Russell then worked for Norseman for three years before joining Hueneman Trucking, where he spent the last four years of his career.

Russell enjoyed listening to audiobooks in his truck and would often go to movies with his family. He loved spending time with his grandsons and was sure to keep in touch with family through daily phone calls.

Survivors include his daughter, Tristan (Dan) Wiechmann of Mankato; four grandsons, Glenn, Dean, Wayne, and Lon; sisters, Judith (Randy) Gasner of Owatonna, and Barbara (Terry) Schneider of Blooming Prairie; brothers, Orlyn Madson of Owatonna, Bruce (Marsha) Madson of Ellendale, and Merlyn Madson; sister-in-law, Marjorie Madson of Owatonna; and many niece and nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Obed and Daisy Madson; brothers, David Madson and Jerald Madson; and one nephew, Jason Schneider.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Westfield Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie.
