SCSO identifies woman killed in crash near Hope
Authorities have released the name of the woman who was killed in a head-on crash Tuesday night south of Hope.
Christine Possin, 71, of rural New Richland, has been identified by the Steele County Sheriff’s Office as the driver of one of the vehicles. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver, an Owatonna area man, has not been identified. He was airlifted to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus in Rochester with critical injuries.
Rescue personnel were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. to the scene, where they found two vehicles near the intersection of 37th Avenue and 93rd Street Southwest.
The case remains under investigation by the SCSO, with the assistance of the Minnesota State Patrol.
In addition to those agencies, crews from Mayo Ambulance and the Ellendale Fire Department also responded to the crash.
