Sharon Krogh, 73, Medford

Sharon Krogh, 73, Medford, obituary
Lead Summary

Sharon (Sheri) Ann Krogh left this world on April 1, 2024, at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter. She fought many battles with illness throughout her life, but Parkinson's Disease would ultimately claim her bright spark.

Sheri was born on July 11, 1950, in Faribault, to Francis (Frank) and Elaine “Nee Nee” (Jones) Kilness. She lived most of her life in Medford, surrounded by a large extended family.

She married her high school sweetheart, Larry Wayne Krogh, on July 13, 1968. They welcomed the births of four children over the next six years. Tragically, Larry died far too young in 1976. Sheri raised the children alone. Fortunately, she was blessed with family and friends (and a wicked stubborn streak) to help her along the way. That stubbornness, independence, and fierce love served her well. She worked as a highly sought after income tax preparer for 30 years, a local cafe owner (Cozy Corner), and a retail manager (Kitchen Collection). But, by far, her proudest accomplishment was raising her children.

Sheri believed that food was the way to people's hearts. She'd often reminisce about learning to cook in the kitchen of her Grandma (Frances) Jones. She could host a party like no other. She was full of life and shared so much of her time and talents with others. From volunteer roles (Girl Scouts, Medford Women's Club, Medford Historical Society) to helping family and friends in need, she never turned down a chance to be of service or comfort.

Fishing, family, and music were at the center of her world and her fondest memories would always involve those things. Her passion for fishing led her to build a fish house with her dad. Many winter and summer weekends were spent on Mille Lacs Lake catching the big ones and listening to the oldies station.

Sheri is survived by her four children: Jamey (Malonna) Krogh of Medford, Jason (Becky) Krogh of Faribault, Jenna Krogh of St. Peter, and Jill (Howie) Putz of Mankato; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her brother Scott (Lisa) Kilness of Medford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, her parents, Frank and Elaine, her grandparents, and many special friends and family members.

Friends may greet the family Friday, April 5, 2024, from 1–3 p.m. at Medford Funeral Home, 310 E. Central, Medford. Private family interment to follow.
