Friends may greet the family one hour prior at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place immediately after the service at the Sacred Heart Cemetery Columbarium.
Sheila was born in Eveleth on June 23, 1946. She was a 1964 graduate of Gilbert High School where she participated in Gilbert Athletic Association, the Concert Choir, and as a staff member for the class yearbook.
On Aug. 12, 1967, Sheila exchanged wedding vows with Peter Connor at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert, Minn. They made their home in Owatonna, and she dedicated herself to raising the couple’s three children and maintaining the needs of the Connor household. In their earlier years, Sheila canned the produce that came from Pete’s garden.
Sheila had an eye for decorating and assisted friends with creating tasteful landscapes in their homes. She also provided day care for a few families, using skills she learned as a teenager.
Her greatest desire was to be a good mom for her growing family. She was a Hockey Mom extraordinaire and could always be found in the audience for Michael’s theatrical pursuits.
Sheila is survived by Peter, her husband of 56 years, her daughter Karen (spouse Derek and grandchildren Josephine, Rory, and Amelia all of Bristol, England) and David (spouse Sarah of Mankato), grandson William Connor of Colorado Springs, and a sister, Kathleen Buncich of Brooklyn Park. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Michael; sister Sharon, brother Peter, and Sister-in-law, Sandra.
Memorials can be directed to Hospitality House of Owatonna. Sheila’s family is humbled and grateful for the outpouring of sympathy during this very sad time.
