On Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, heaven gained a beautiful angel.

Sherry (Sharon) Regina (Grunwald) Schickling passed on to heaven surrounded by her family at Rochester Mayo.

Sherry was born in Owatonna on Feb. 24, 19?? and was the daughter of Jay and Ellen Grunwald. She was a graduate of Owatonna High School and spent the majority of her adult life in Owatonna. She worked as a receptionist for OMC/Mustang and Viracon. Sherry was well known around town as the lady with “That Voice.”

For the past 35 years, Sherry and her husband, Steve, had a life of love that is rarely found. To quote them, “they had fun, and loved life, family and friends.” Sherry will be remembered by all she touched with her infectious smile and laugh. She loved her family and grandchildren, socializing, decorating her house, eating peanut M&Ms, listening to her son Scott play guitar in his various bands, and long weekends camping with her beloved dogs.

Sherry is survived by her husband Steve; brother Tom Grunwald (Evie) of Phoenix, AZ; her son Scott Sorenson (Kathy) of Lakeville; her stepchildren Katie Ward (Rodney), Dan Schickling (Trudy), Eric Schickling (Mel); and six wonderful grandchildren: Taylor and Tommy Sorenson, Payton and MaKenzie Ward, and Riley and Clayton Schickling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Ellen Grunwald, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be at Brick-Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at the Owatonna Eagles Club on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. to celebrate Sherry.
