Thomas H. Ferry, 95, Mantorville

Thomas H. Ferry, 95, of Mantorville, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Prairie Meadows Assisted Living in Kasson.
Thomas was born in Millbrook, N.Y., on Feb. 14, 1924, to Lloyd and Edith (Pectal) Ferry.  In 1941, he graduated from Millbrook Memorial High School and started working for IBM in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.  He then entered the Naval Airforce in 1942. After a plane crash, he transferred to the Navy and served at the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard. He later graduated from Winona State University.
He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Robinson, on Oct. 23, 1945. They lived in Stanfordville, N.Y.  and he returned to work at IBM. Tom was the 11th IBM employee to transfer to the new IBM plant in Rochester,  in 1956 and retired in 1986. At that time, they moved to their home in Mantorville. He was a long-standing member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kasson and the Kasson-Mantorville Masonic Lodge #11.  
He also  served as an IBM representative to the Rochester Chamber, was a past Chairman of the Advisory Committee of RCTC in Rochester, and served on the SELCO Board of Directors. He was honored to be Mayor of Mantorville for six years, served on the Planning and Zoning Board and was one of the founding members of the Mantorville Restoration Association. He was an avid bird watcher and loved nothing better than fishing with his life-long friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lloyd.  
He is survived by his wife of nearly 74 years, Helen; three children, Thomas Edward, John (Gervaise) and Ann (Daniel) Driver; eight grandchildren and nine (soon to be 10) great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m.  Friday, March 22, at the First Presbyterian Church, 101 – 6th Ave NW, Kasson, with Pastor Carl Grosse officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A lunch will be served at the church following the service. A private inurnment will be at a later date.
