Victor Fischer, 96, Blooming Prairie
Victor James Fischer, age 96, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at the Benedictine Center in Owatonna, surrounded by his family.
Victor was born Aug. 2, 1927, to Frank and Agnes (Moravec) Fischer at the farm in Aurora Township in Steele County. He attended country school 1 mile north of the farm to grade 8. He worked around the county for various farmers. He was drafted in November 1950 and entered the U.S. Army as a Private E1. Victor was in the 532nd Engineer Boat Shore Regiment in the Korean Conflict. He was released from the Army as a Corporal(T) with an Honorable Discharge in November 1952. He was proud of serving his country and flew the flag every day.
Victor married Estelline Koss on June 11, 1955. They were married for 68 years. Victor farmed the land his grandfather purchased in 1896 until his retirement. From the marriage, three sons were born: Thomas, Daniel, and Chris. Victor enjoyed milking his cows and always treated the livestock well. He put in long hours on the farm. He provided for his family and cared for others.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and planting trees. Except for the lone apple tree by the road, he planted every tree on the home farm where he lived since 1955 until his death. He enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren. They were a big part of his life.
Victor is survived by son Daniel (Peggy) Fischer, their two daughters, Ashton (Mat) Hedger, their children Ramsey, Grady, twins Evelyn and Colby; and Brynn (Landin) Johnson all of Langdon, N.D.; and son Chris (Madeleine) Fischer, their children Luke and Caroline all of Pawley’s Island, S.C.
