The Women’s Barbell Classic (WBC) – a powerlifting competition for women – will be coming to Owatonna High School on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The event will be all day, beginning at 9 a.m. and finishing with an after party at 4 p.m.

As per the WBC website, “The Women’s Barbell Classic is a women’s only push/pull powerlifting meet hosted by Raise the Bar Initiative. Women from ages eight to 60+ share the platform, showcasing their hard work, dedication and strength, all while making new friends. Beyond building community and friendly competition, this is also Raise the Bar Initiative’s largest fundraiser of the year — their version of gala in the nonprofit world.”

The day will begin with the bench press at 10 a.m., take a brief intermission at noon before deadlifting begins at 12:30 p.m.

Once deadlifts finish, there will be an awards ceremony and group photo at 3 p.m. before the after-party begins at 4 p.m.

Admission for spectators and coaches is $10.
