Yolanda Covert, 79, Owatonna
Yolanda Anne Covert, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, surrounded by family.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at Brick Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna. Friends may greet the family one our prior to the memorial service starting at 10 a.m.
Yolanda was born on Aug. 25, 1944, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from Radford High School in 1962. She attended the University of Hawaii and worked at the U.S. Naval Submarine Base in Pearl Harbor.
She moved to California City in 1970. In August of 1976, Yolanda began a 26-year career at NASA Dryden Research Center as an accountant, retiring in 2002.
In 1980, Yolanda married Dean Covert in California City.
In retirement, Yolanda spent her time taking care of her parents in California. In 2015, she moved to Minnesota to be closer to her daughter, Paula. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, especially soap operas, comedies, and sitcoms.
Yolanda enjoyed people, she was always positive and bubbly. But above all, family was the most important to her.
Yolanda is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lonnie Dean; daughter, Paula Nuemann; stepsons, Stephen (Keri) Covert, Jeremy (Heather) Covert; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, Theodore Estrella II.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
