Jean Shaw, 92, Blooming Prairie

Jean Shaw, 92, of Blooming Prairie passed away peacefully in Olympia,
Wash., on June 30, 2021.
Jean was born on July 4, 1928 in Dover, Minn., the daughter of Hazel and Fred Hein. She attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Plainview High School. Jean attended Winona State Teachers college and continued her education at the University of Colorado, Boulder, graduating with a B.S. degree.
Jean married John “Jack” Shaw in 1951. After teaching in Owatonna and Anoka, she and Jack returned to Blooming Prairie. Jean taught for 42 years in the Blooming Prairie school system from kindergarten to second grade, and in the Chapter 1 program. She retired from teaching in 1990, and traveled yearly with Jack to visit their children in Olympia and Boulder.
Jean was a member of the First Lutheran Church, and loved to garden, sew, quilt and visit with her friends at The Bakery. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her children, Sandy (Brian) Kerrigan of Olympia, and Marty (Robin) of Broomfield, Colo.; five grandchildren, Rosalie, Katherine, Jason, Joshua and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren; and niece, Mary (Jerry) Lowery of Winona, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents; and her brother, Donald Hein.
There will be a private family gathering.
