Randy Shermo, 66, Owatonna
Randolph “Randy” James Shermo, 66, passed away at his residence in Owatonna on Sept. 14, 2021. Randy was born May 10, 1955, in Eau Claire, the son of Kenneth and Jane (Leland) Shermo. Randy spent his school years moving around to Seattle, and Madison, Wis. Randy then had moved back to Eau Claire, and he graduated in Altoona, Wis. After high school, he attended Stout University in Menomonie.
He went on to work at Walgreens as a restaurant manager. While he was working at Walgreens, he had his first two daughters Danielle and Katrina with his first wife Victoria Michels (married in 1980 and divorced in 1988). Randy had the idea to buy an A&W in Worthington. This is where he met his second wife Cindy (Walker) Shermo. Randy got a job with Happy Chef in Yankton, S.D. then got transferred to Happy Chef in Owatonna. After this, Randy took on a new role at McDonalds running the store with his wife Cindy. While working for McDonalds, his third daughter Savannah Shermo was born. He left McDonalds in 2012 to open a Maid-Rite in Owatonna. Randy's last job was being a food service director at the Steele County Detention Center. Randy’s passions include cooking, puzzles, crosswords, snowmobiling, reading books, hunting with his brothers and nephew, remodeling, and spending time doing archery with his daughter Savannah. Randy is survived by wife of 30 years, Cindy (Walker) Shermo, parents Kenneth and Jane (Leland) Shermo, his two younger brothers Rick Shermo and Brad Shermo, children Savannah Shermo, Katrina (Shermo) Arizmendi, and Danielle Shermo, Grandchildren Eva Shermo, Cruz Shermo, and Elena Shermo.
He was preceded in death by father-in-law Jerome Walker and his younger brother Mike Shermo.
